October 10th is celebrated as World Mental Health Day. In the USA, the whole month of October is recognized as Depression Awareness Month.
The importance of celebrating Depression Awareness Month is in wide-spreading knowledge and understanding of depression and some other mental health conditions.
People in America and throughout the world struggle with mental health issues more often than we know. Depression, as one of the mental health conditions, is far more than just “feeling sad.” It can significantly affect almost all aspects of a person’s life. How one feels, thinks, and acts. It can cause disruption in school, work, relationships with others, and personal interests.
Signs that someone might be going through depression could be withdrawal from activities that interest them, lack of concentration, neglect of personal hygiene, too much or too little sleep, constant fatigue, slow gate, restlessness, feelings of low self-esteem, and extreme guilt.
Depression is treatable. Apart from medical help and psychotherapy, which are crucial, having the right support can be very beneficial. Homeopathic remedies can offer support in many ways as well.
Homeopathic remedies can be used if someone feels inhibition in asking for help, fear of social stigma, and other people’s opinions are most often reasons for it. Homeopathy can also be used, along with conventional treatment, by people who have strong drug aversion. Some research advises on using homeopathy in postpartum depression. Further, some experience shows that using homeopathic remedies may enhance the effect of psychotherapy.
This, definitely, is not the final list of how homeopathy can be used in support of mental health. Feel free to contact me with questions.
